GREEN WEBINAR: Prospects of water resources

An online webinar on the topic “Prospects of water resources” was held at the GREEN WEBINAR site of the office of NTR, NTS and the Green Bridge Institute of the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects. The main discussion was the modernization of solving problems with water resources in Kazakhstan. The moderator was the Head of the office of NTR, NTS and IZM Medieva Gulbazar.

 The online webinar was attended by more than 100 people from among the industrial enterprises of the country, including JSC Karazhanbasmunai, JSC Central Asian Electric Power Corporation, JSC Sokolovsko-Sarbayskoye Mining and Processing Production Association, LLP Ekibastuzteploenergo, RSU "Aral-Syrdarya Basin Inspectorate for the Regulation of the use of Water Resources of the Committee on Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan", LLP "ERG Service", JSC "Samruk-Energo", JSC Electric power station "EEC", LLP "Eurasian Group", Aksu ferroalloy plant JSC TNK Kazchrome, LLP "ECOS", KEGOC, PAGE United Nations, S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, etc.

The speakers at the "GREEN WEBINAR" platform were the Coordinator of the Regional Platform for Water Resources of Central Asia, Yesekin Bulat, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Scientific and Educational Consortium "Agartu" Mizanbekov Daur, PhD in Engineering in Water Resources, University of Lund (Sweden) Kamshat Tusupova, and an expert in integrated water resources management and landscape archaeology (Germany) Kyle Igere.

Within the framework of the webinar, the speakers highlighted such topical areas as the practical implementation of the principles of the basin social corporation, and also touched upon topical issues of modernization of wastewater disposal facilities in the Republic of Kazakhstan, integrated water resources management: international and local aspects.

Thus, speaking on the topic "Practical implementation of the basin social corporation - SRO in Kazakhstan", Bolat Yessekin spoke about the principles of sustainable development, and also presented progress reports on the SDGs of Kazakhstan at RIO+2. According to the speaker, with the reforms and the emergence of new terminology, the management of water and river basins remains archaic, contradictory and extremely inefficient.

Daur Mizanbekov spoke about the current problems of modernization of wastewater disposal facilities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In his speech, he noted that providing full-fledged warranty and post-warranty service of high-tech equipment will be one of the main steps in solving the problem by creating a network of service centers throughout Kazakhstan and ensuring their activities.

Special attention was paid to integrated water resources management in the speech of Kamshat Tusupova. The speaker gave an idea of the IWRM system and its elements in relation to the relevant SDGs (on the example of drinking water and sanitation).

In the final part of the webinar, Kyle Igere presented his work, where he spoke in detail about integrated water resources management MIKE SHE & MIKE+. By the way, the company has already conducted projects on the problems of the Taklamakan desert, as well as the city of Kherson in Ukraine. The speaker noted that with the data, it is possible to analyze integrated modeling of the catchment area, and work on subsurface and underground drains.

In conclusion, Gulbazar Medieva noted that the efficiency of the use of water resources will lead to auxiliary economic instruments, which will eventually promote social changes.
