IGTIC together with the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the financial support of the OSCE and the assistance of Akmola and Pavlodar regional local authority bodies (akimat) are implementing the Project on attracting international expertise and green technologies in order to develop the system of municipal solid waste (MSW) management in Shchuchinsk-Borovoye and Bayanaul resort areas.
The aim of the project is to familiarize local specialists with advanced technologies in management of waste and landfills, to share knowledge for the development of solid waste management infrastructure.
Waste management companies, landfills and large sources of waste will be visited. A report created as the result of the work will be given to interested parties. It will contain an analysis of the current situation of waste management in resort areas and technical recommendations for improvement.
The Concept of a pilot project of practical training in waste management of food and construction materials will also be presented. The forthcoming ban on the burial of these types of waste in Kazakhstan is stated in article 301 of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This project will be aimed at creating a practical training base for specialists from all regions of Kazakhstan.
